▷ First Impressions ▶ VISUAL: See above for his apperance! The anime adaptation of Phantom Blood gives him blue hair, but the manga and All-Star Battle both depict him with black hair. See Here and Here for other references of him - and yes, that second outfit is real. I'm so sorry. Jonathan's built like 5 fucking tree trunks. He's 195 cm tall - just pushing 6'5" - and 105 kg, so about 231 lbs. He used to box and he's an avid rugby player, so most of that is essentially pure muscle, as you can...probably tell. Usually he'll be wearing the outfit depicted above, but he has a few other sets of clothing as well. Being a nobleman from Victorian England, some of them are fairly traditional, while others, because it's JoJos, are...less so. I'll link to just about all of them on a separate page. Also of note is the birthmark on the back of his left shoulder: a five pointed star that's been passed down through all his bloodline. It's one of the main things that identifies him as a Joestar. ▶ AURAL: Here's a good example - up until around 1:07 in the video is just Jonathan speaking. Since he is from England, it should be noted that he has a bit of a British accent. The one they give him in the English dub is subdued, but it's definitely still there. As far as speech patterns go, he's fairly formal, and unusually for a shounen hero, he not only uses "boku" to refer to himself, but actually goes as far to refer to everyone, even his enemies, with "kimi", which is pretty absurdly polite. A true gentleman, indeed. ▶ OLFACTORY: Thank god he's the son of a nobleman. He probably bathes decently often, so he just smells like...well, scented soap, with a little bit of sweat mixed in. ▶ DEMEANOUR: Jonathan is polite to a fault, and while those predisposed to hate the wealthy might resent him at first, Jonathan can earn the respect of even his worst enemies through his courtesy and passionate spirit. He'll hold back even on thieves who are trying to kill him out of concern for their families, and is generally a pretty upstanding guy.

▷ IC Permissions ▶ PHYSICAL AFFECTION: Strangers or people he isn't close to giving him physical affection, even if he acts polite, will likely make him a little uncomfortable. If you're good friends, though, he'll enjoy a platonic hug or two when the time is right. Anything that happens in a scary situation, like someone hiding behind him or clinging to his side, is also fine with him, so long as he's still able to fight if necessary - but if things get hairy, he'll usher you away to safety. He also gives great piggy back rides. ▶ PHYSICAL VIOLENCE: Jonathan doesn't like to fight people, but if a situation is dire and people are in danger, he'll put everything he has into it until his enemy is subdued. If someone evil hurts an innocent bystander, you bet he's gonna be pissed, and that'll power him up even more. Even without the ripple, he's pretty ridiculously strong, and his will can keep him going on even when he should be pretty seriously incapacitated. If it's something minor that gets played out in a thread, I won't mind at all, but for anything with a serious risk of injury or death, I'd prefer you contact me beforehand so we can hash things out. He isn't going to outright try to kill anybody unless they're Dio, or some kind of undead being, and if he's in an ordinary situation where he has to fight he'll absolutely hold back so people aren't too seriously injured. ▶ RELATIONSHIPS: Jonathan is happily married, so, uh, flirting, kissing or anything romantic/sexual is pretty much a no-go. He is happy to befriend kind-hearted people, though, and depending on what kind of abilities or technology they have, he might be outright fascinated. Talk to him about archeology, too! ▶ PSYCHIC & PSIONIC INFORMATION: Jonathan will usually try to think like his opponent in a fight, but he can't outright predict their actions or read their mind. That's for his grandson. I'm fine with people using mind-reading abilities on him! ▶ MAGICAL INFORMATION: Oh lord, here we go. I'm pretty okay with anyone using their powers on Jonathan, but as far as he goes... Jonathan is adept in the ancient martial art of Hamon, or the Ripple, and while it isn't technically magic, it can do a lot of bullshit stuff. It involves controlling your breathing to send the energy of the sun throughout your cells, and while it can be used to heal yourself or others, it also seriously packs a punch against vampires and the undead. Hamon can also be conducted and transmitted through objects and weapons, ranging from a sword to a scarf made out of a particular fabric, though it always conducts best in water and fluids - to the point where some Hamon users are literally able to walk on water. I'll get into the specifics of Jonathan's abilities in his Abilities post, but to make a long story short... Jonathan can project Hamon from his extremities, as well as his Sword of Luck and Pluck, into various objects, living and non-living, like a wall or a lake. A Hamon-charged punch, to an ordinary person, would probably hurt a lot, but also give them pins and needles like a jolt of electricity. It can also give the user the ability to control a person for a short period of time, for whatever reason, and makes the user jump a little higher, because who even knows. To a vampire or undead creature, though, enough of a dose of Hamon can utterly obliterate them, acting as the sun's rays normally would to turn them into dust. They can survive a little bit of it, though, and it isn't a perfect solution. If your character is a vampire or undead and you would like to opt out of Jonathan using his Hamon on you, feel free to comment below! I'll put a form at the end of this post. ▶ MEDICAL INFORMATION: Jonathan's pretty healthy for a person his age in the 19th Century, but he doesn't have any sort of vaccine-related immunity to things like smallpox or other diseases considered uncommon or straight-up non-existent in the modern era. It's unlikely considering his constitution, and especially considering Hamon can be used to eject harmful substances from the body, but he'd probably still be susceptible to serious diseases. ▶ OFFENSIVE SUBJECTS & TRIGGERS: Do not try to humiliate his wife. Or talk shit about his family. Or hurt innocent people. He'll get angry and punch you. As far as actual triggers go, he shouldn't have any that I can think of.
